Looking to support the Firehouse Art Center? Join us as a volunteer!

The Firehouse Art Center provides many opportunities to support the arts through volunteerism. Volunteers have the opportunity to learn marketable skills, contribute current skills, explore new areas of interest, meet stimulating people, and enhance the Longmont arts community.

Volunteer Opportunities

Exhibit Host- Weekdays and Weekends from 11:45-5:15pm- Exhibit hosts needed at the gallery to interact with the community. We would love to have recurring regular volunteers (ex. “every Thurs” or “third Wed”) but single dates also welcome. Exhibit hosts sit at the front desk. They greet guests and inform them about the current exhibits, and if there is art work upstairs on in the back gallery. They also ask people to sign in in the guest book. Exhibit hosts are also responsible for any sales transactions from the shop or the exhibit, retail and money handling experience is appreciated, but there will be training provided to process sales.

Your most important responsibility is to share about the exhibit, and let guests know about the Firehouse. We will have flyers that share programming info, so you wouldn’t need to memorize anything, you can just hand out the flyers and direct people to the chalkboard calendar. It’s a great way to connect with the community and support our organization’s belief that art belongs to everyone. Our gallery has no admission fee and we invite all members of the community to experience the art on our walls. While we would love to have a recurring volunteer, we are willing to be flexible!

LONGMONT FARMERS MARKET CRAFT TENT

Farmers Market: Farmers Market Craft Booth- 2026

Volunteer will meet up with a Firehouse representative at the Boulder County Fairgrounds to help set up the craft, work with young artists to make the project and then break down the craft at the end of the market. Tent and table will be set up by the Farmers Market Team.

DIA DE MUERTOS GIGANTES PROCESSION 2026-

The community is invited to participate in Longmont’s biggest and best Day of the Dead celebration ever! The event will be held on 4th Avenue, between Kimbark and Main.

Family Fiesta 11am-3pm

Azteca Dancers and Gigantes Procession 2pm-3:15pm

The Family Fiesta will feature live performances of music and dance. Participants can also make traditional crafts like sugar skulls and papel picado at the craft booths. Enjoy delicious Mexican food from popular food trucks, join a walking tour of the altars downtown or take a shuttle to see the exhibition at the Museum.

The event end with a Danza ceremony and Gigantes Procession. The Firehouse presents the Gigantes Procession, but we need YOU to help make it possible! There are lots of different ways to be a part- from face painting to carrying a gigante (they aren’t as heavy as they look) to leading the gigantes through the procession. The Firehouse is committed to connecting our community to creativity and culture and Volunteers are a key partner in this mission, helping the Firehouse create an inclusive environment where everyone can connect with art and find inspiration. We encourage people from all backgrounds and life experiences to volunteer! No experience is required, and training is offered for all programs. Volunteers perform a unique form of philanthropy that supports art and creativity in Longmont!

Patron Program

The classes, events and exhibits we offer are solely dependent upon broad-based community support of our programs and patronage of the arts in our community. Belief that humans need access to art and creativity is truly the heart and soul of our mission — and your support and patronage is vital! The Firehouse offers several levels of patronage, moving into higher levels of sponsorship. Benefits are detailed below.

At the Firehouse, we believe that ART IS FOR EVERYONE. Our Mission is to inspire cultural awareness and human connection by providing life enhancing experiences through art appreciation, art education and self expression. We do this through providing free access to exhibits that introduce our community to thought provoking artists, both local and national. We also offer opportunities in art education for all ages and skill levels, with a large portion of our classes offered for free to under resourced areas of the community. Lastly, we serve as a bridge between our diverse community members, sharing cultural traditions and creating a space for dialogue to increase connection, empathy and understanding. Our vision is that through these services, we shape Longmont’s creative identity and improve our community’s quality of life by providing meaningful engagement with art and culture.

We look to you, our community, to help us make our vision a reality! During the Renaissance, Patrons of the Arts catalyzed the cultural movement through their patronage of the arts and humanities. Without their support, we wouldn’t have artists like da Vinci, Botticelli and Michelangelo! Patrons created an environment where art and culture could flourish. Won’t you join as a Patron of the Arts and help support art in Longmont! There are many levels of support, and an individual Patronage is only $35 for the whole year. Benefits include VIP events, increased access to exhibiting artists, discounts at local business partners and the knowledge that you are making your community a brighter, more creative place!

As a patron you receive arts information in a monthly newsletter and enjoy awesome retail partner discounts. All Patrons are eligible for Firehouse rental discounts, class or workshop discounts and discounts to summer camp. Additional discounts may include annual events, and local business discounts. We will also send Patrons a copy of our exhibition catalog and our annual report upon request.
